How to Find Your Inner Bliss

Art is an indescribable form of meditation. Painting or engaging in any form of art transcends practically every aspect of existential wonder. As you read and finish my article, please do your best to find your inner artist. It’s there, trust me.

As many know, I learned to paint in watercolors, acrylics, oils, and pastels during the pandemic. My inner artist found me during a webinar from hell. I started sketching pine trees onto copy paper with a pen.

When I found the courage to share those images, people said, “Dude, that’s amazing. When did you learn to do that? Can I have a copy?”

At first, I said to myself, “Me, an artist? You’ve got to be kidding me. I’m an athlete. My art is pounding the crap out of the competition, on the front line of sales, and building my small business.”

That’s the self-critical voice that used to torment me as a recovering control freak: never good enough, fast enough, rich enough. Over the years, I’ve learned the art of self-acceptance and unconditional love, even though I slip occasionally.

The way to find your inner artist is to become willing to play like when you were a child. As we become willing, we practice art, meditate, and enjoy life at the highest level. We need to transcend the inner critic…

Medium stopped paying me due to a technical problem on their end. Their support is unwilling or able to help me. So, I stopped writing. Get a grip, Medium.
