Mine didn't either. At their worst, it was an emotional terror for me as I FELT everything to the core. It took me decades to reconcile my experience, and I vowed to be a better parent and stay happily married for thirty-nine years.
In retrospect, I'm grateful now for the experience because my parents taught me how NOT to be.
And that made all the difference.
