Last week, I wrote a detailed article for my Medium and Substack subscribers, How to Find Your Flow State. Even if you’re not into art, one of my main points is that we can reach a flow state, given the desire.

Art is one of many ways to find flow. Many find flow in sports, performing arts, meditation, and being in nature. We’ll define a flow state as fully immersing and engaging in the present moment.

While in a flow state, we lose track of time, and it feels serene.

Experience, Perspective, Acceptance, and Patience

The longer I live and paint, the more I see similarities between art and life. One similarity is the ease with which I can find a flow state by letting go and being playful.

I encounter less resistance when I let go of control of things I can’t control. Acceptance becomes the gateway to serenity.

Doing what we love is part of living a good life. Over the last few years, I’ve been learning to paint. Like anything I’ve learned, there’s always an element of fear when facing the unknown.

For example, we often ask ourselves, “Am I good enough to get good enough?”

Medium stopped paying me due to a technical problem on their end. Their support is unwilling or able to help me. So, I stopped writing. Get a grip, Medium.
