“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

I never told a grown-up I wanted to be a storyteller. But somehow I came to love being one. Being a storyteller is a gift especially when stories make a difference in the life of another.

The world needs more storytellers. After all, it is stories that saved the world from the human intellect which has a propensity to self destruct. Didn’t the Irish save civilization by saving some of the most revered, ancient, religious texts and the stories that shape how we live in this crazy world? Do we need more Irish people right about now? I don’t know, but I digress.

Whether you are more of a Big Bang or Genesis story type, it’s is up to you. Either way, when we land here in this strange place, babies are coddled and told stories with too many exceptions such as in too many nasty nurseries in far away, very cold, dark places where children are many and hugs are rare.

The environment in which we live, and the stories we see, hear, read, and experience, shape how we show up for the rest of our life. We can agree this is true because none of us choose what we believe. Life happens, the story changes us for the worse, hopefully better. All of…
