How Using Cannabis Affects Writers, Artists, and Overall Creativity

I graduated high school in 1979. Back in the day, I could have been Snoop Dog’s best fan club champion. This article isn’t about me, my history, or whether I believe cannabis is good or bad for anyone.

This article is about what recent scientific studies can teach us about the link between cannabis and being our best creative selves. Whether you’re a writer, painter, singer, dancer, athlete, or performer, the evidence is clear; we are making progress with more cannabis research and studies.

Before we get to the research findings, we’ll take a quick back at history and how drug policy has evolved in the United States since the 1930s. It appears we are making good progress in policy even though the DEA drags its feet while the IRS and U.S. banking regulators persecute the innovators and capitalists operating in the cannabis industry.

We’ll close the article by reviewing two short lists of potential benefits and negative consequences.
