Playing with Light

The Art of Life

My spirit is wide awake this morning. I don't feel older. Only my body does. It's time to play after I brew coffee and clean my eyeglasses.

I hijacked Janice's kitchen table again. A towel covered her wooden table. I'm just passing through. I've got the kitchen lights on high. It’s not even 5 a.m.

A wooden box props up my palette. Today, it's watercolors. They're safer to clean up if I make a horrendous mess, like when I dropped a small bucket of coffee onto the kitchen floor.

I've been stuck about what to write lately. So I've been painting more.

I’m in heaven when I paint. Painting is an excellent art for a wordsmith who becomes wordless.

What is your vivid memory of being a happy, playful child?

Art feels good. It's impossible to be bored. It's hard to be mad or sad when playing.

Art is therapeutic. Art is playful. As life happens, sometimes we forget or think, "I don't have time for that art stuff."

We forget to play.

Henri Matisse said, "Creativity takes courage." Life takes courage, and we can become our worst enemy.

Playing takes courage!

Medium stopped paying me due to a technical problem on their end. Their support is unwilling or able to help me. So, I stopped writing. Get a grip, Medium.
