I’ve been obsessed with painting lately. You’re looking at my art studio on the other side of the Costco stand-up desk where I sit. But it’s time for me to write about the art of building a business. Building businesses and consulting is how I make the most of my living.
I love the art of building businesses. I’m best at the art of business development, melding sales and marketing into a seamless, cash-flow-producing machine.
It started when I was about 9. I had a make-believe hotel in the basement of our family home. I wanted to be like my father because he was an artist who spent his entire working life building businesses.
The more I reveal my journey as a painter, the more I see similarities in all aspects of life, including business. Let’s get into the art of building a business.
The Creative Play Zone
I’ve been working for the last six months, building a business called ThinkFISH. (Funding IS Hard). That means funding businesses with new capital, customers, and cash flow is hard. If it were easy, like painting a picture you love, everyone would do it. And if that were true, fewer of us would have day jobs, no jobs, or work for the government.
