Nine Ways to Accept and Love What Is
Once upon a time, I got pissed at the judge who sent me to anger management classes. That’s because I’m a recovering control freak. And the judge was right. Since then, I’ve learned a few things about mindful detachment and how to accept the seeming insanity within and around me.
I used to get mad at people, places, and things I didn’t like. I learned that whatever I judged harshly, I have within me. The same is true for all of us. That’s because the world reflects our thoughts, feelings, and perceptions. In other words, the world is a mirror. The mirror is a teacher. We are the students.
It’s easy to lose our minds in a world of seeming insanity. It’s not easy to love all that is, especially the jerk at work who’s the boss or the friend you love but want to five-finger-death punch too much.
Our job is to see life as a gift and earth as a school to learn to love all, especially the people, places, and things that set us off. The only way out of the muck is to rise above it consciously.
