The Power of Life-long Learning
How to Stay Close to Your Inner Child
Life-to-date, I learned to write, edit, and publish hundreds of articles and five marginal books.
It's hard to say which is harder; producing a sellable product or selling a product I produced.
Later, I learned how to start, self-fund, grow, and sell more than one small business so I would never need another day job.
Brutal work, and only possible when powered by a major definite purpose (MDP).
A true labor of #love.
Then, I learned how to capture digital images, market, and sell them.
That was also hard work, and lots of fun. I’m still practicing!
Next, I learned how to paint using watercolors, acrylics, oil, pastels, and digital, and sell the artwork. That was during the pandemic. Nobody can lock you down if you know how to go within a play like a child.
After that, I learned how to play Pickleball, won some tournaments, lost more, got certified to teach, and started giving private lessons.
Talk about fun!
I'm not bragging as much as telling a short story ...
Never stop learning to create the life and joy of your dreams by following your inner child instincts.
Life here is a gift. It’s relatively short. When we see the gift of life, we’re more likely to love it even when life sucks.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned about all forms of art and sport is that when we do what we love, it keeps us young.
Now, today, and for the last several weeks, I’m learning how to produce, edit, and publish better videos. I’m firing up a new YouTube channel by driving my sixth book draft through YouTube in the form of videos.
Why videos instead of a new book? Because monetizing book sales is hard work. I’m testing the process of publishing on YouTube because I believe more of us learn online with video than by reading the written word.
I started doing YouTube videos in 2007. It was terrifying and fun! The videos helped me win new clients and consulting revenue. But my videos have never produced direct income as a YouTube creator.
Each step of my journey my Imposter Syndrome always said, "Dude, you suck at writing, editing, making videos, etc. What are you thinking?"
We all have self-doubt. But we have to push that crap out of our minds and stick with the heart. I trudge forward by following my heart. Do the same!
Let your heart reveal the art forms you were born to create.
And never stop learning and playing like a child.
Your inner child loves forever.
Play well!
