The Purpose of Dragons
Nine Steps Toward Self-Mastery
If you’re like most of us, a part of you deep inside torments you when you are at your worst. The darkness, metaphorical dragons, reveal themselves through toxic voices that trap you in self-doubt, self-loathing, fear, anger, and maybe even rage.
We do our best to suppress, repress, and avoid our dragons. Millions of us use prescription drugs, alcohol, food, work, cannabis, and illicit drugs to numb the pain. Too often, this puts us on a path to utter despair. In the worst scenarios, we lose ourselves completely, and the gift of life disappears.
A Better Way
But maybe there’s a better way. Instead of seeing this part of yourself as a threat, let’s explore how to see the dark side of your psyche as dragons to befriend. A better way to see dragons is by approaching them as teachers, transformers, and sages who become your friends.
Whether you experience a midlife crisis, the dark night of the soul, a significant illness, injury, or a setback, your path to transformation begins when you approach your inner dragon with courage, curiosity, and willingness to learn. On this path, you find light in the darkness because there can be no shadow without a light surrounding and within you.
