Try This 5-Minute Exercise If You Suck At Belonging
“Hello, my name is Cliff, and I’m an introvert.”
I landed on Earth and had this near-immediate thought, “How did I land in this place? Brace for impact. This is going to be a wild ride.”
The “experts” I’ve hired as coaches and guides fail to agree on a critical aspect of my personality. I feel like an introvert, but I’m supposed to act like an extrovert.
My story is about what it feels like to not feel like yourself, and how to shift your awareness practicing a simple, 5-minute exercise that you can make a way of life.
First Day of School
How did you feel the first day of Kindergarten when your mom was doing her best to fit your tiny feet into your galoshes so she could walk you to the end of your driveway and hand you over to the first minibus driver you would ever meet?
I was sick to my stomach. Not wanting to go to school was as painful as being in school. My first sense of not belonging happened on my first day of get=ready-for-school school, Kindergarten hosted at the Angier School in the next town over to Waban, Newton.
It’s weird to me that I continue to harp on my early school experience, but all of it scarred me for life inexplicably. Even the family…
