Who talks worse to you than you do when you're at your worst? That's what I call "head trash." When we treat ourselves or others badly, our head trash is holding us back.

Once Upon a Time

I remember a spoiled little brat of a tennis player boy who would smash his tennis racket and say the most terrible things to himself and others. Because of his outlandish and seemingly uncontrollable outbursts, the boy was often admonished, chastised, and told that he wasn't acceptable.

Because of how the boy processed what he heard from grown-ups, he buried buckets of remorse, guilt, and shame deep inside himself. He seemed very ordinary from the outside, but inside, the kid felt like he was from a different planet.

Because of the kid's behavior and the consequences, he repressed and suppressed the toxic shame, guilt, and remorse he felt. These emotions would eventually erupt and find their way…
