Why I Stopped Writing for Medium

It’s a loyalty and trust thing, sufficient cause to pause my writing

Forgive my rant. I can’t not write about my experience.

Trust and loyalty are everything to me. I’ve been married to my college girlfriend for forty years. I’ve had the same bug spray dude whacking termites in my Arizona backyard for forty years. I’ve had the same accountant and bookkeeper for almost thirty years.

I’m not bragging. I’m simply telling you I’m loyal and trusting as hell until you hose me.

“The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.”Ernest Hemingway

I’ll be your friend until I don’t trust you. The hope of making money compelled me to pay as a member. It seemed a fair fee.

Writing is a creative passion. The primary value proposition is that writers join the community, learn to play by the rules, engage with others, and make money.

Making money was the hope that pulled me. Sure, I love to write. But making money doing what I love is pure bliss.

There was no specific amount of money I hoped to make writing on Medium. Nonetheless, I took a leap of faith and invested in the community.

Medium stopped paying me due to a technical problem on their end. Their support is unwilling or able to help me. So, I stopped writing. Get a grip, Medium.
