The love of money is real. One way we know this is true is by watching the most popular posts on Medium, on social media, and in the real world. We love to relish the allure of fame and fortune because it's human nature.
As a younger man, I dreamed of being rich and having lots of money. When I married the woman of my dreams 37 years ago, I wanted to make a lot of money, drive a fancy car, and buy a big house. I needed a better-paying job, a great credit score, a more significant savings account, and investments.
Because of my dream to make and have a lot of money and fancy stuff, I worked hard. It's true that I also played hard, partied hard, and had children when I was a child myself. Eventually, I felt I had arrived after building my first business and selling it to a big company. It seemed as though money could make me happy and buy me a love of life until I lost it all.
I'll never forget the day I deposited the big, fat check from the buyer of my small business. I felt like I was one of the wealthiest guys in the world. I did my best to invest most of that money because I had already purchased a big house with a large swimming pool and a three-car garage.
