Writing a Novel On Medium?

I Need Help Dealing with My Imposter Syndrome

I’ve been rereading The Catcher in the Rye. It’s one of my favorite books because of Salinger’s personal story and his gift for telling stories. The pages are yellow because I’ve owned the book for a long time. Every time I read his work, I’m inspired to write my first novel. But my head trash keeps getting in the way.

“The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.”

- J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

One of my goals is to publish a novel before I die, and I’ve been working on launching one for about seven years. Because Salinger published short stories before writing his classic book, I’m considering publishing a series of short stories on Medium. I know Medium is rich with non-fiction writing, how to make money writing and other modern-day stuff. But I’m leaning toward taking my leap of faith and publishing my first stories here because of the community and the ability to get feedback from other writers.

On Writing a Novel

I’m having difficulty deciding how and where to start, even though I’ve been chipping away at the theme, plot, subplots, characters, and story arc for too many…

Medium stopped paying me due to a technical problem on their end. Their support is unwilling or able to help me. So, I stopped writing. Get a grip, Medium.
